Hi! I’m Emily
Welcome to Beyond Nutrition Counseling! I'm Emily Compton, owner and Registered Dietitian Nutritionist dedicated to guiding you toward a balanced and joyful relationship with food. My journey into nutrition began with a deep desire to help others break free from the cycle of dieting and embrace intuitive eating.
I believe that everyone deserves to enjoy food without guilt or stress. By focusing on intuitive eating and honoring your body's signals, we can work together to create sustainable habits that support your health and happiness.

My Specializations
-
Struggling with an eating disorder or disordered eating patterns? I provide compassionate, evidence-based support for individuals facing anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, orthorexia, ARFID, and other disordered eating behaviors. My approach prioritizes healing your relationship with food, rebuilding trust with your body, and working toward sustainable recovery—without restrictive diets or shame. Whether you’re seeking help for yourself or a loved one, I’m here to guide you toward food freedom and lasting well-being.
-
Do you find yourself avoiding certain foods, struggling with texture sensitivities, or feeling anxious about meals? Avoidant/Restrictive Eating can stem from various factors, including past trauma, digestive discomfort, or sensory sensitivities. Together, we’ll explore the root causes of your eating challenges, develop a nutritional plan that feels safe and sustainable, and work toward expanding your diet in a way that honors your needs.
-
Navigating picky eating in children or feeling overwhelmed by mealtime battles? I help parents and caregivers create a positive, pressure-free approach to family feeding. Through gentle exposure strategies, structured mealtime routines, and responsive feeding techniques, I’ll guide you in reducing food-related stress while ensuring your child gets the nutrition they need. Whether you have a toddler refusing veggies or a teen with a selective diet, we’ll work together to cultivate a lifelong healthy relationship with food.
-
Do you turn to food for comfort, stress relief, or distraction? Emotional and impulsive eating can feel like a cycle that’s impossible to break—but with the right support, it’s possible to reconnect with your body’s natural hunger cues and develop a healthier relationship with food. Through mindful eating strategies, emotional awareness, and behavioral tools tailored to your needs, I’ll help you move away from food guilt and restriction and toward a more balanced, fulfilling approach to eating.
-
Tired of yo-yo dieting and food rules? Intuitive Eating is a non-diet approach that helps you rebuild trust in your body, make peace with all foods, and develop sustainable eating habits based on hunger, fullness, and satisfaction—not restrictions. As a weight-inclusive dietitian, I guide clients through the 10 principles of Intuitive Eating, helping them break free from diet culture, rediscover the joy of food, and nourish themselves with confidence.
-
Your health is not defined by your weight. The Health at Every Size® (HAES) approach focuses on holistic well-being, body respect, and sustainable health behaviors—rather than weight loss. I help clients shift their focus from the scale to meaningful health outcomes, such as improved energy, better digestion, balanced nutrition, and reduced stress around food and body image. Whether you’ve experienced weight stigma in healthcare or want to explore a compassionate, non-diet path to health, I’m here to support you.
-
Do you feel uncomfortable in your body or struggle with negative self-image? You’re not alone. In a world that pressures us to look a certain way, it’s easy to develop unrealistic expectations and body dissatisfaction. My approach helps clients heal their body image, challenge harmful beliefs, and cultivate self-acceptance through evidence-based strategies. Together, we’ll work on body neutrality, self-compassion, and confidence-building practices to help you feel at peace in your own skin.
-
Are you an athlete feeling pressure to perform, look a certain way, or control your food and body? Disordered eating in sports is often overlooked—but it’s more common than you think. Whether you're in recovery or hoping to prevent harmful patterns, we’ll explore the unique demands of your sport, rebuild trust with your body, and support both your performance and well-being through a non-diet, compassionate approach to fueling.

Sliding Scale Support Through Project HEAL
I'm proud to be a Verified Treatment Provider through Project HEAL—an organization working to break down systemic barriers to eating disorder treatment.
Through this partnership, I’m able to offer sliding-scale nutrition counseling to clients who may otherwise be unable to access care. I believe that healing should never be a luxury, and that cost should never be the reason someone doesn’t get support. Everyone deserves compassionate, affirming care—regardless of background, identity, or financial circumstance.
Accessible healthcare is at the heart of my practice, and working with Project HEAL allows me to extend that mission beyond traditional models of care.
If you or someone you know is seeking support but struggling to afford it, let’s talk. You deserve help, and there is a way forward.
